Simmons Locker Clean Out Supply Drive

At the end of the 2015-2016 school year, Kaelin Pettit designed her silver award project for Girl Scouts.  Kaelin organized a school wide locker clean out to collect the supplies that normally would go into the trash at the end of the school year.  Supplies collected were then sorted by Kaelin.  Kaelin and her sister Abbey made binders with all the necessary supplies for the counselors to hand out to students who needed supplies as they started SMS or on an as needed basis during the year.

Again in the spring of the 2016-2017, the Pettit sisters completed another locker clean out.  Year two produced even more supplies than year one. Teachers were invited to come ‘shop’ the supplies at the beginning of the year for materials to use within their classrooms.  Binders were again assembled for the counselors.  And many, many students were provided with locker shelves and decorations who may otherwise not have had access to those items.  Overall, Kaelin earned her 50+ hours for her Girl Scout Silver Award.  Her younger sister, Abbey will continue the locker clean out during her years at Simmons to benefit those in need.
