This past fall Simmons SAC searched for a way to assist a school devastated by Hurricane Harvey. Through a website (Principals Helping Principals), our SAC chose to adopt a Houston area school: Texas CAN Academy- Houston Southwest. This school stood out because of their need. They are a second-chance high school that services students who failed in the traditional high school setting. They are 95% free-reduced lunch, and almost 25% of their entire student population lost everything in the floods.  When contacted, their principal, James Troutman, stated that students needed essentials, such as socks. Through our SAC Sock Drive and your generosity, we collected over 700 pairs of socks! We shipped our packages in early December. Principal Troutman was blown away! Way to go, Bucs!
