Hoover High School Reading Challenge

The HHS summer reading program has been redesigned! We are now calling it the Hoover High School Reading Challenge.  We hope that by partnering with the Hoover Public Library (HPL) we can continue to challenge our students to read more books during the summer months.

Details:  Students record how many books they read from May through the end of July.

How:  Students may visit the HPL to sign up for their summer reading program.  Students participating in the program will submit titles read electronically to HPL. Hoover librarians will share their information with HHS and let us know how many books our students are reading.  Our goal is 3,000 books.  Please encourage students to sign up for this program at HPL!

Additional Information:  Participating students have a chance to win cool prizes (movie passes, gift cards to local restaurants, etc.) from HPL.

Please note:  Individual grade levels and departments may still assign required summer reading, so students should check the HHS website this summer for more information.  However, this May, June, and July all students are invited to participate in the HHS Reading Challenge.

From the nurse:

If your student has had medication in the health room this school year, a parent must come to the school to get the medication from the nurse.  Medications are not sent home with students.

New (& revised) health care plans were mailed this week for students with health conditions.  Please have these filled out over the summer and turn them into the nurse at the beginning of the school year.  Remember, students are not allowed to carry medication at school.  If you are in need of a medication authorization form, please email or call Nurse Epperson.

Have a safe and healthy summer!

Nicole Epperson, RN

School Nurse
