Dear Parents/Guardians,
I have now met with all of your children to remind them of the items below. Please remind them of these important topics and help them to think before they act. Sadly at this time of year is when many of our kids slip up and make mistakes (some minor and some major).
I have told them that they will have a discipline consequence if they make a mistake in any of the following areas:
1. Honesty-make it a daily goal to be honest. No lying, no forgetting the truth...
2. Integrity-have that personal strength to do the right thing and be the person your family has raised you to be.
3. Maturity-be mature in all situations (especially with your words).
4. Words have power. Choose them wisely. Use words to uplift and encourage. If you are going to talk about someone,  make it positive. If you can't do that then don't talk about anyone.
5. Any racial slur (including the n-word or any other word), will result in at least In-school suspension.
6. We are going to be a community of learners that lifts up each other and there are many words that we should not use.
7. Finish the year in a strong way (academically, behaviorally and in your character). Remember that grades determine eligibility for athletics next year and national honor society admission.
8. Be safe with technology. Please do not make the mistake of trying to bypass our safety filters. The only websites you may go to are those that teachers allow. Do not give anyone your password.
9. Lockers must be locked at all times. No erasers in them nor any other thing that will allow others to have access to your locker.
10. NO GUM at school at all.
11. Phones in lockers and off at all times.
12. Keep your hands and your feet to yourself...AT ALL TIMES.
13. I can't force your child to learn (I can take away time from their day to help them refocus and get work done, including Saturday School).
However your child can NOT prevent other children from learning. I was that kid in school. I didn't want to focus so I didn't think anyone else needed to either.
14. Puberty is here. Review the dress code with them. No clothes that are tight. No holes above the knee. Keep everything covered. Bathe as often as possible. Daily is preferred. Used deodorant. PLEASE.
As always, contact me if you have any questions about anything at Simmons.
